There are multiple reasons that could cause observations data to go missing for a location. Missing observations data results in Seasonality showing stale data in the Current Conditions. You also might see missing or flat-line data in the Graphs.
Gaucho Software hosts multiple observations servers, so if one goes offline there is another server ready to go. But occasionally all the servers have a problem, or there is a problem with the data feed all the observation servers use to import weather station data. If you have multiple locations, each using different weather stations, and they are all missing data, this is most likely the cause. Typically downtime like this is fixed fairly rapidly.
The most likely cause is that the weather station is undergoing maintenance. An instrument may have failed or they might be upgrading the equipment. If this is the case, the weather station data should be back online within a couple of weeks.
If the data for a weather station is offline for a long period of time, it may have been retired completely. In this case, you will want to find a new weather station nearby to use instead.
Switching to a different weather station is the best bet when another local weather station goes offline.
First, make sure you are not using the built-in GPS location. The GPS location is the first location in the Location List, and it will always use the closest weather station. Instead, you want to use a weather location for your city. You can add a new location for your city if you don't already have one.
Second, open the Location List and tap the āiā button next to the location whose weather station you would like to change. This will open the Location Inspector.
Next, in the Location Inspector, look for the field labeled ICAO near the bottom. Tap the āiā button next to that field to open a list of nearby weather stations.
Finally, in the nearby weather stations, choose a weather station that is most appropriate for your location. The nearby weather stations are listed in order of distance. Once a new weather station is selected, Seasonality will load new weather data for that location.
